A United flight bound for Rome landed in Sacramento to address a mechanical issue, the airline said. "We were told over the PA that there were some problems with the left engine, that it was overheating, so they had shut it down, and that they were diverting us to Sacramento airport, and they weren't sure exactly what was going to be the next steps. And as they found out, they would let us know," said Sousa. Sousa said that the passengers had to wait in Terminal A for further instructions and that a new plane was ready to take them to San Francisco. She also noted that most passengers who deplaned didn't seem overly frustrated. "I don't know how late we're going to get there, but we're going to make it, and everybody's safe," she said. "There was nothing to alert us, as far as anything to feel that something was really off."According to FAA Records, the Boeing 777-222 is 25 years old and had its first flight in 1999.
