ahhhh…thanksgiving.  so glad for that day.  sometimes I get lost in the everyday.  I forget that there are lessons to be learned, that there IS a plan, and that things will work out.  do I sometimes wish I had more, better, different…yes.  who doesn’t?  but why?  i have a wonderful husband, two happy, healthy children and parents, a brother, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in town and in my life on a daily basis and a job i love.  we hosted 19 people this year.  we always have a lot of people at holiday meals since, as i said, most of my family is in town.  thank you to each one of you for celebrating with us.

i read this poem on another photographers site.  when I was doing my own web search, i came upon it and decided it was fate.  i should post it too because what are the odds of finding the same random poem out here in cyberspace.  it’s a good one. this poem reminded me to remember all of that and I hope it will do the same for you.

Be thankful that you don’t already have
everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be
to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don’t know something,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations,
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge,
Because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes,
They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you’re tired and weary,
Because it means you’ve made an effort.

It’s easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those
who are also thankful for the setbacks.

Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.

Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
and they will become your blessings.

i am thankful that I may not have matching chairs for everyone, but i have so many people whom i love to fill them.

i am thankful that, while this is NOT the most flattering picture of josh and me, I get to share my life with him (and have lots of other photo opps!).

i am thankful my mother-in-law moved to town last year.  this is our fourth 19+ lb. turkey we’ve made together.  we’ve got it down to a science.  it’s SO easy and so delish.  contact me if you want the yummy recipe.

i am thankful for the other men in my life; my dad and my brother.  always there for me.

i’m thankful that my mom has such a big heart and would do anything for anyone.  i can always count on her.

thankful, blessed and honored to have such amazing kiddos.

road trip

i feel so honored that my faithful clients, whom i’ve had the pleasure of photographing for multiple years, drove all the way up from florence, kentucky for their shoot.  i love working with them.  they are gorgeous (every one of them), super sweet, and fun.  i love seeing the girls grow and change from year to year.  thanks for giving me that opportunity.

seriously beautiful family.  the kids keep getting bigger but mom and dad seem to have found the fountain of youth!

always the big sister but getting to be so grown up.

such the poser.  she always gives me the most shots!  and they’re all so cute!

ahhh….it’s like a little laura.  could she look more like her mama?

may they always have each other to hold onto throughout life.  you girls are precious.

I love Big Shots Photography and working with Marla because:  She was a blast to be around. There wasn’t an awkward atmosphere over the whole event; within the first five minutes we were laughing, and it was easy to just be natural.

sam is another one of the boys i photographed who are all friends.  like his friends, sam was a very nice gentleman during his session.  he’s sharing this post with danny, just like danny shared his with sam.  since the session i’ve had the opportunity to meet with danny and his mom.  she tells me the boys have been best friends since they were three.  that’s a long time.  i was watching the movie “grown ups” the other night thinking of these guys.  (very funny, 99% kid friendly movie-btw).

maybe that title was a wee bit dramatic.  last year, this family had an urban session.  this year they opted for a park setting.  so, not so much country but just natural & woodsy.  as i said last year, i’ve known scott his whole life!  he is younger than i am so the story goes that any time something happened to him, his mom would call my mom to check out what the “dr. spock” book said to do.  kind of like our “what to expect the first year” type thing.  how funny to think MY mom was the “expert”.  well, we both did turn out ok!  scott is married to his adorable wife huan and has two hilarious boys.  i never know what to expect from them but always know i’m going to get great shots!

what a gorgeous family.  and just as nice.  i’m so lucky to know them.

boys will be boys.

you’re a hottie huan.  i mean only a true hottie could wear those shoes.  you guys got it goin’ on!
