i feel truly blessed to know and work with this family.  they are just good people.  know what i mean?  this is our second session together but the first with the whole family.  last time we did a surprise for father’s day for glenn. this time was a combo family/first birthday/au pair going away session.  they are very go-with-the-flow which is great since that’s how i shoot!  while i don’t know the baby so well since, well…he’s a baby, i do know the girls.  we bonded last year and took it to a new level this time.  they all piled in my car and drove with me to our location so we could have some girl time together.  alas, i had to give them back (lol) but i can’t wait to see the whole family again soon.

there is so much love and energy among them.  you can feel it by looking at them.

james’ mom told me her son wanted pictures with his car.  as i’ve said before, i love when clients bring things to personalize their session.  let’s capture who you are!  i didn’t know what to expect and since i’m not a car person, i didn’t even know what to ask. well, when james and his dad pulled up in his car, i got it!  it’s a cool old car that they worked on for THREE years!  beside the cool car, they had so much bonding time.  it was evident they were close as his dad cracked jokes during the session.  the car was in horrible shape when they bought it so it’s no wonder james wants to show it off in all its’ glory.  now it’s time for me to “show off” james in all “his” glory!   (well…some of his glory-these are just the sneak peeks!)

ashley is such a trooper.  i’ve had only a few rain outs this summer and she was one of them.  the worst part is that we were actually JUST getting started. it’s bad enough to have to call off a session beforehand due to weather.  it’s the worst when you’re actually there and shooting!  we got half done but had to reschedule for the rest.  bummer.  BUT…i always say the reschedule day is better than the original and i was right.  it was cooler, the sky was gorgeous and this time her mom came; which added to the fun.  when ashley pulled in, i thought she’d brought a friend.  that’s how young her mom looks.  and that’s four kids later!  now i know where ashley gets her gorgeous good looks.  when i say she, her mom and the session were a pleasure, i mean it!

She was so easy to work with and made time for a rescheduled session after the original got rained out! As the session went on I felt more comfortable having pictures taken and could completely be myself without 100% instruction. Thanks Marla!

that’s what i was thinking as i drove to the session.  the sky was a little cloudy but my client had just called to say it was storming where she lived.  i know how hard it is to get an entire family dressed and ready for a photo session; especially with little kids!  sydney and david were in the car with the boys as we all crossed our fingers for the storm to go a different direction and skip the park.  and, for the most part, it did!  we had a few sprinkles but no big thang!  whew!  the boys were troopers.  alex and i hid under a tree together while mom took care of bennett.  thank goodness they are so easy going and fun to be with.
