Archive for August, 2010

aj came to me by way of one of my big shots models, alex.  they’re dating and are sooo cute together.  i first met him at the big shots model class of 2011 kick off bowling/pizza party in the spring.  he also joined us for alex’s session so he knew what to do and jumped right in.  alex didn’t make it to aj’s session but helped aj pick out his outfits (awwww).   he is very involved in soccer so we thought it was important to showcase that in his senior session.  we got a good mix of images and had a lot of fun doing it.

aanchal’s mom and i planned her entire session via email from the u.s.a to india!  i’m quite proud of that and amazed at what technology can do 1,000’s of miles apart.  i was so excited to meet them in person!   i was even more excited that aanchal wore such a beautiful traditional indian outfit.  as i’ve said before, i don’t just capture what you look like, i capture who you are.  everyone has different sides to them.  why not showcase and embrace those parts of you like aanchal did?  it can be a cultural outfit, a silly pair of socks, an umbrella…whatever.  if it is a part of what makes YOU you, i want to see it.  and now, let’s see aanchal!

emma, her amazingly warm, friendly mom, joey, and i met last spring.  i got a call a few days later that emma wanted me to shoot her senior photo session. at the time, august seemed so far away and now her session’s come and gone.  i l-o-v-e-d her session because she was up for anything.  we were just exploring; doing a little of this and that.  the light was gorgeous as was emma.  we started at her beautiful home for the first part of the session.  then emma and i headed down to old loveland to finish it off.  emma said she didn’t want pictures of her just sitting/standing around looking like she isn’t doing anything and i think we accomplished that (ok, except the one by the tree but, come on, a girl needs a rest every once and a while-LOL).

bringing friends to sessions has many benefits.  you get to hang out and have fun while having your pictures taken together, you have someone who knows you well who can make you laugh, and i get to know them and they get to know me.  that was the case with marin.  she is alex’s bff.  she came to alex’s session and was so much fun to have around.  i knew we’d have a blast when we were alone for her shoot.  i was right!  we just jumped right in because of that comfort level from already knowing each other.  we really had a lot of fun.  marin, i wish you luck with your senior year and beyond.
