I’m going to keep this post short and sweet because Lexi and Becca’s session reveal is coming up next week and I can’t give too much away!  Mom, Melissa, called to schedule her girls for a “Who You Are” Project session.  I was super excited because I’ve “known” Melissa through our moms and the community but never had a chance to really connect.  We clicked right away over the phone and all had a blast during the session.

These sessions are specifically geared to tweens ages 10-15 and differ from a usual Big Shots session in many ways.  For more information about the “Who You Are” Project, check out this post here.

After our UBER FUN studio session showcasing who Lexi and Becca are, they went away for spring break.  Mom couldn’t wait to see some images so I promised I would post a few to hold her over!

WHO-YOU-ARE-PROJECT I am so excited to start the journey of shooting tweens!  This overlooked age group should be remembered as much or more than others.  Why?  Because they’re not quite children and they’re not yet teens.  They are finding out who they want to be while still not shy about being who they are!

I remember this stage all too well.  I loved roller skating and putting on plays in our family room.  You know what we have to show for it?  A head and shoulder shot of me posed awkwardly with my 1980’s something big hair.

Boy do I wish I had a picture of me looking all adorable and sassy like this cutie you see here! Tween girl

Babies and toddlers are ALWAYS having their pictures taken.  And that last year of high school?  Senior pictures are all the rage!

I am looking for tweens for our “Who You Are” photography project, ages 9-15.

I want to capture the the personality of  this group of often overlooked kids and record the last stage of their childhood before they become young ladies/men. I want to highlight their hobbies, style and personalities before they become self-conscious teens.

Please contact me  if you are interested in having your child participate. Feel free to share this email with others who may be interested as well.

There is no session fee for our “Who You Are” Project through May.  Big Shots Photography Tween portrait collections start at $400.  Add ons may be “added on” from there with some FUN FINDS you’ll love.

After you contact me, I will send you specific details and we can go on from there!

The years go by so quickly. Before you know it, your tween is going off to college! Just look at these images of Kathryn and Carolyn taken as tweens and then again as seniors!

Let me help you preserve this special time in your daughter’s life.

Hello everyone!  I am so glad you are here!  I’ve taken the year to revamp this site for Families, Children & Tweens.  I am in the process of having a new Seniors only site made so stay tuned for that. Check in to this site for exciting news and as I update my blog posts.

one of my all time favorite things about shooting seniors is that i usually get to see them again shortly after their session.  so many of my seniors book family sessions with me!  it’s so great to reconnect and meet their family members.  in this case, i already knew everyone from marin’s session four years back.  i was so excited to see her!  we did a family session after her senior shoot as well.  this year, sydney is graduating so we scheduled their session around the college girls coming home for thanksgiving.  while it was a bit chilly, it was a blast!  the more i work with people, the more comfortable we all are.  it was just like picking up where we left off!  i can’t say enough good things about this family.  it was definitely a great last session for 2014!

i was super excited to photograph this family.  they recently moved here from michigan so our wimpy “cold” temps didn’t intimidate them.  i’m all about winter sessions.  what’s better than cozy clothes and warm hugs?  i think their smiles say it all!  i’m scheduling VERY limited winter sessions right now.  if you’d like images like these, let me know!  i’m available at marla@bigshotsbymarla.com for more information.
